Tips to Identify Termites.
- You
knock on the wall, and it sounds hollow; this is an indication that
termites have already consumed the inside of the wall.
- You
find an ant-like insect which is brown in colour, and has a body length of
between 1/8 inch to 1 inch (it may have wings or it may be wingless).
- You
find mud trails along the walls and door frames; termites, particularly
those of the subterranean species, live in the soil.
- You
find termite Fras (termite excretions, which are shaped like pellets) on
floorboards and other wooden structures.
The
damages caused by termites can be catastrophic, both structurally and
financially, as they can multiply at an accelerated rate within a short period
of time; a termite queen can lay 20,000 to 30,000 eggs in a single day,
resulting in the establishment of a colony numbering millions in no time.
